Search function sucks!

Why does the search function on every forum using this format suck so bad?
It seems no matter how I change search criteria the same results just keep coming back over and over.
I know the topic is here, I've seen, it but no amount of time wasted on search will bring it up.
Not just this forum but all that use this format/template.
There would be far less repeat topics and questions if the search functioned even a little.

I know! I've complained about that a long time ago already. Of course, stuff like that IS NEVER FIXED!

But now, if the forum topic is Quick Hitches, they will be at the top of my screen for sale. THAT, they can do!

Try putting your search terms in " quotes". When you do that , only threads with that exact phrase will appear.

Doesn't it tottaly suck you have to jump through hoops like this instead of the forum having a direct SQL query to search within it's confines? It's craptastic.

Doubling up on the 'what are you searching for' question because I think it works quite well here. I rarely have trouble finding what I was looking for.

Nothing at the moment, but whenever I tried searching for something, it never worked and returned totally obscure threads. Of course it doesn't help that many thread titles are poorly worded. "I need Help!" or "How Do I deal with this?" or "What is This?"

My lady friend often asks such questions from the other room, and I always reply, I know you think I'm Superman, but I don't have X-Ray vision.

I specified, Titles only and got a page of PTO related threads, but no vibration.

Use the google search at the top of the page that I circled in red and see what results you get.

My header looks nothing like that. There is no Google search option. I recall there used to be.

Maybe ad-blocker software prevents it from showing up? I don't know why it isn't showing up for you. :confused3:
