Sears Selling Craftsman Brand

Just a matter of time before Kmart and Sears are gone. It started in 2005 after Kmart bought Sears. Nike refused to let it's footware and clothing products be sold in Sears as that meant Kmart could sell them. The quality has gone downhill of many products that Sears sold. The new marketing plan for Kmart is to buy inventory of bankrupt companies like Brinkman and sell them at a deep discount because their regular suppliers have stopped shipping merchandise to them for fear of not getting paid.

I went into the Sears store at the mall in Tyler several weeks ago and it looked like a ghost town. There were two employees for tools, appliances, and sporting goods. I had to wait 15 minutes to get checked out as the only other customers were in those sections of the store.

I remember when the Woolco's chain was all the rage and just about put the last nails into Kmart. (Woolworths vs SH Kresse's) But they pissed Kresse's off and the response was to put a Kmart next to every Woolco's they could and Woolco's couldn't take it.

A small town's Sears store was a staple in the 50's & 60's. The big city stores were a different animal altogether. Being long and lanky I had poor luck in getting any Sears shirts or pants to fit. JC Penney's had better options and better quality in shirts, pants, and underwear & T-Shirts. But I hated to shop there with my mom. She'd just go so slowly looking at this n that. But when I got my drivers license I found their work clothes and boots a better fit a better quality than Sears although I thought Montgomery Wards PowerKraft sometimes a better quality than Craftsman.

Its hard to beat Harbor Freight when it gets the job done more often than not. Raising their cost and prices isn't the answer. Lowering ours while building it here with American workers and not machines is the answer. Good luck with that.

There's a seldom use entrance to our mall on the Sears end. I don't know why no one uses that entrance. Its off a state highway. The ones that do use it circle the mall and go to the crowded side. The Sears side parking lots are usually 1/3 of capacity even at Christmas time. If they'd just park at Sears and walk through to the mall it would be so much easier for most of them. Anyhow, I have been in the mall twice last year with my wife.... how many bath and body works survivors here? Can you ever have enough candles or air fresheners? :confused3:

Yup. If SWMBO makes me go to the mall we always park on that side. She also likes to hit up the Landsend at Sears. Then we go to whatever other store in the mall needs going to. Then when she gets frustrated with people and traffic I remind her with a bit of planning we could have ordered from Amazon and stayed in our jammies. Then I get "the" look.

Stanley black and Decker should breathe new life into the brand, once sears produced in China it was all downhill. I'd like to see the craftsman power tools with the stanley/Dewalt 20v lithium ion, maybe even the 60v flexvolt l. That tired old 19.2v needed to be retired, making the 19.2 lithium ion only made it smaller, not stronger.

Yup.. reminds me of a close out / outlet store, like the Beales outlets. just a store full of open packages, returns, one-sies, and seconds, and broken stuff and junk.
