"it seemed dry enuf" ... oh how I was wrong ...

this is an cut (with a 3month/yr water flow) I want to level out the bottom for a pond. I made a "ramp to get into it. I've had the 'bota down there before, but only to use the hoe.

Saturday I decided to do one last "level" job on the bottom before I would build the rim and then transport about 4 yrds of fill for the "dam".

Well, 30 minutes in, this "dry season" hadn't been as dry as previous. One spin and 'bota started sinking. I stopped immediately, but ...

After about 2hrs of planks and lifting I got it back to here (wife showed up with camera)

The hoe helped ... (had to lay it down since it would simply pierce this bottomless mud pit)

also used the hoe to swing the rear onto semi solid ground ... which only stayed solid for about 20 seconds.

here's the final self-extraction vid ... I was getting tired (and tweaked a knee when the "suction" grabbed my foot)

Watched a bit on you tube. Leave the bucket up when pushing with the hoe.:)
oh there was no "pushing" with the hoe ... bucket was down to help stablize the fact that the rear was going 5 feet up. So, that was lifting.

I thought about running a chain from a solid ground point (tied off truck) that I could use the hoe to pull backwards. Instead took the lift/shift (+ old planks approach).

My wife commented that the "muck" was like a bottomless deep baby diaper (and *almost* smelled that way).
