Sell me on Branson

Agree that most on here most likely already have a trailer. I have one 16 foot that I use to haul hay, equipment, etc. I also have a 7 x 12 14,000# dump bed that I can haul my tractor, equipment, sand, fill dirt, gravel, trash, etc. into tight places and dump. I got tried of unloading by hand. Son also has smaller trailer for lawn mowers, 4 wheeler, etc. And also have 2 horse trailers. I would never be without a trailer of some kind.

I'll be getting a trailer for sure and most likely more trailer than I need. I'll have room once we build to have things I wish I had now. Only trailer I have currently is for my boat. (which I also don't pay for people to take to the lake for me.)

Get the biggest trailer you can tow, with whatever tow vehicle you plan to have/use.

I'll probably go with a car hauler type trailer 18 footer. I don't think I will need more than that unless I go with a bigger tractor. Pulling with a 2019 F-150 V8, so I have plenty of truck for the job. It handled the JD 3039R, bush hog on a heavy hydraulic trailer just fine. I don't think I will need much more than that.

I'm leaning towards the 2510H at this point. Sure I'd like bigger but it really isn't going to be needed for what I'm going to do with it. The extra $4-5 grand to step up to 30-35HP just isn't worth it to me. I can get the 2510H with trailer, implements, loader for under $18K. I keep debating back and forth but really I don't need more than that. Similar Kubota costs about $25K with same stuff, and I just can't see paying that much for a similar tractor. I really liked the B2650 when I first started looking into this purchase but I can do without some of those features and I can live with a Korean tractor for the 30 hours a year I may actually use it. If I need a bigger job done I can rent a machine or pay Billy Bob down the road to do some work. Plenty of guys with tractors and side hustles these days. I've hired random dudes with chainsaws and trash trailers to do some storm cleanup before. I'm fine with that.

If you do your own maintenance and are using the tractor only on your property, you won't need the trailer much if ever. In three years I've not needed to trailer the Branson, and I never needed to trailer the Kubota I had for 12 years before it. The few things that needed fixing on it were all possible to do myself. I did need a trailer to pick up a used backhoe attachment for the tractor. I rented one.

Of course if there's other uses for the trailer it's worth having. If I ever have those I'll get one. Until then it'd just be rusting and taking up valuable flat space on my land.

One thing to note is that the implements in a tractor/trailer/implements package deal are usually the cheapest possible ones. For things like a box blade and rotary cutter, spending a few hundred more gets you a significantly sturdier implement. There's plenty of pics on here of cheap box blades and rotaries that are bent up.

Difference of opinion here:
I may use my 14K equipment trailer only once each year.
I store it inside.
I will never sell it, unless I sell my tow vehicle.
Having a trailer always at my disposal, is important to me.

I have never towed my Branson and I never towed my Oliver 1550.
I did tow my IH 574 once, when I bought it.
Out of the over a dozen tractors on the farm I can only think of maybe a half a dozen times one of them got towed,
in over 50 years. Other then dealer delivery or warranty pickup, which used to be included.
Of the dozen or so homeowners I know with compact tractors only one of those has a trailer for his.
He tows quite often, the exception around here.

Added; very few farms around here have trailers to tow there tractors.

One more voice to the mix. I have a 2004 Century (Branson 3510)and fortunately have never needed to tow it to any dealer. In this part of VA dealers come and go, but there usually has been one nearby (<100 miles) that can send me the parts I need. I also have a trailer and have towed my tractor to many other places to do work for church and other projects. And my 1500 sierra pulls the tractor on a 16 ft trailer with out any problems at all. Small enough to pull easily and large enough to do serious work. I do wish the Branson dealer network was stronger. These tractors are very good value. W.Jones

There are MANY other reasons to have a trailer, other than just to tow a broken tractor around.

Trailers aren't that expensive, and they are handy to have around in my opinion. There's been plenty of times I could have used a trailer in the past 10 years but didn't have one. I live in town now, have to store my boat in a warehouse, no room to even park my truck in the garage. That's all going to change once I get the new place built and I'll have plenty of room for a trailer and under a roof where it's not rotting away.

As far as implements go, that's something I am looking at for sure. I'll weigh all my options when it comes to taking a package or working the deal another way. I know the brand of implements this dealer gives with the package are kind of a weird brand and I need to research them to see if they are good or not. I imagine they are probably crap.

Can you all recommend a good value in box blades and rotary cutters? Value I mean sturdy and good for your dollar spent. I don't care about paint colors or names.
