Any way you look at it, it's a better investment to buy up, then to try to buy down! The first tractor is a learning tractor and from there you can figure out hw big you need to go.
Before I'd buy a new tractor like a left over B series I'd look at the new ones with the three range transmission! That is worth it to move up! The little bit in tires size giving a bit more ground clearence and traction is small compared to the options of power with a three range transmission.
I know I love mine, and the 3 speed is nice.rickster said:Try out a B7800. 30hp and the 3 speed![]()

I'd much rather have Position Control on the 3PH (even as an option) than a 3 range HST. The new Bxx20s would have my interest if this was the case. As it is, I think they missed the boat.
As for the OP's question, I think right now is a fine time to be combing the dealer lots in search of a B7510/7610. You should be able to score the best deal ever on these models now that everyone has "3rd range mania".

You may be able to get a few more hundred out of it , but for family, I think that is reasonable. Unless you don't like him, then go ahead and tack on a few more hundred. Best of luck,valleydweller1 said:Update:
My brother-in-law is interested in purchasing the BX2230 (154 hrs) with FEL and a 42" rear mower for $9,000.
A local dealer quoted me $14,690 for a new B7510 with the larger FEL, rear remote and a 48" rear mower.
Is $9k a good price for selling the BX? Is the $14k+ a good price for buying?
