Looking at your tractor again, you have years of experience built up (dust and dirt) so suggest pressure washing first to remove the loose top layer, then spray the super clean or simple green full strength while its wet.
Then let it sit for a bit, pressure wash again - you might need a brush on the wheels and other grime.
If the hood and fenders are still dull, get some polishing compound in an hour or less it will look like new!
Post some pics once you get it cleaned up.
I like tractors in their work clothes. Dust and dirt doesn't bother me. I want to see the grime that could indicate oil leaks and such. If I go and look at a used tractor and see considerable effort in cleaning I'm going to wonder what the seller is hiding. Same with repaints. I won't buy a repaint tractor. But that's me lot's of people buy on looks only so it really is a double edge sword. Even as a seller I would leave it alone for the most part. Takes care of some of the questions if you get a knowledgeable person looking at it. If to clean and the model has a known issue then your going to be trying to convince the potential buyer that it does not in fact have that problem all the while he is looking at it wondering if your lying.IMHO, & looking at the pictures, & your location this M-F 241 should bring about $6,500.00 all day, But I would ask $8,200.00 as a starting point, & let them know the price may be negotiable, But make the buyer work for a lower price, & don't let them rattle you with low balling offers that should be expected. This to me would be a great tractor for grading gravel roads, skiding logs, & even hooking up a log splitter; In your area I would make it a selling point for this type of tractor not to mention no regens or def needed which is a plus for this size HP tractor. Finally what you get for tractor will depend on how you market it. I have a 1959 M-F 50, & I use it for all the purposes I mentioned. Good luck on selling your very useful, & versitile M-F 241, & let us know what she ends up selling for.
I bought a 4430 at a farm auction. Went weeks before and did extensive testing on it. It was leaking lots of hydraulic oil in 3 places, 3pt. not operating correctly, antifreeze dumping on the ground, rough looking, but drove and functioned properly. My hope was they didn't spend the time cleaning it because it would have covered up some of the issues and drive up the price. I was not disappointed on auction day. Not one ounce of cleaning was done. All the tractors were running and dumping fluids on the ground. One had diesel spraying so bad that steam was just rolling rolling off from it. I got the 4430 that day. Slightly more than I expected but did not break $10,000. Checked it over, topped off the fluids and drove it 6 hours home. Had less than $1000 in repairs and $500 was because I was not comfortable opening up the hydraulic pump to reseal it and had Deere do it.
I would not put price is negotiable. Then potential buyers already know you are going to drop. If you are in a hurry to sell put a lower price on. If you have time stay on the high end. Buyers are already going to try to get you to lower without you needing to state it.
