I took the plunge and bought a 1026R. No regrets. I love it!

Turf Guy, do you still have your JD X748 for sale? I am new to the forum, and I have been really considering getting a X748, X749, 1023e, or 2305. I have read multiply threads on the topic of getting a GT or a SCUT. I have roughly 7 acres at my place with about 2.5 acres of yard. The rest is woods. My yard however is on a sand hill with trees. I need to have an AWD option or 4wd option. With my yard configuration I would really like the X749 but I haven't been able to find one resonably priced or close to home. The X748 however is also nice especally with the PTO and 3 point hitch which is what I really would like.

No, I traded it on a new 1-Series. By the way, my dealer has a huge discount on 1023E tractors right now. You can get one for less than an X748. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you his contact info. Also, he has 0% for 60 months right now.

Big difference between the x749 and the others you have listed. If you wan't 4ws and 4wd the x749 is the best choice. I really like my x749 and have the 3ph and rear 540 pto, bought if for manueverability and slope work. Has met my expectations and am happy with it. I should add that I have no interest in a fel on a lawn tractor as I use the 110tlb for those purposes.

If the 4ws isn't an issue for you then you can get a better price right now n the 1000 serieswith 60 month financing for those who are interested.

Well I would definately think the X749 would be my best choice. As I said a lot of my yard is on sand hills, which some are quite steep. On top of that I have to mow around alot of trees. I have tried mowing it with my parents grasshopper and I really tare up the grass trying to mow around the trees. Some of the yard I can only mow going down. I haven't tried to use my JD420 yet, because of some engine problems, but I suspect I will have the same problems trying to go around trees. I would think with the X749 I would be able to get around all my trees without taring up the yard and get up all of the hills. I think it would make mowing a breeze and quick. But the X749 are so expensive. I would really like to have an FEL but if I had one of those, I would want a SCUT. And if I had a scut, it would definately take longer to mow around all of the trees and I would be afraid the ROPS might be at an angle to hit the trees before I got close enought to them. An FEL is definately a want for me and not a need. My family farm is 3 miles away where I have access to a 580 Super M backhoe and Case Maxxum 125 with grapple bucket. My father-in-law's farm is only a couple hundred feet away also where I can use his machinery also. It just seems hard to me to try to consider buying a GT that is more expensive than a SCUT.

Also what kind of problems have JD had with the 1023 and 1026 models?
