Just had another one:D

The cruise control and the cabin air control stopped working on the family Grand Cherokee. First google search revealed something about flapper bushings shot and taking the whole dash out and such:mad: - felt like a huge job and we just lived with it.

With the heat wave we experienced I was forced to look at it again - and all it was a loose vacuum hose from the intake manifold, DUUH - half a year with air blowing only up on the windshield, time to return my mech. eng diploma:(

Aahh, how well I understand. A few years ago the automatic choke on my old F250 Ford quit working. I didn't use the truck a lot, so when I did, I just sat there and pumped the gas pedal to get it started, then kept on, as needed, to get it warmed up. After a year or two, I finally decided one day to see about fixing it. I removed the air filter and found the choke linkage blocked by a big mud dauber nest. Cleaned off the mud dauber nest and the automatic choke worked perfectly. So while I was at it, I also removed two big mud dauber nests from inside the air filter housing.

Prokop, you're a senior moment rookie.;) I had the cruise control quit on my Dodge 3/4 ton Cummins diesel pickup about 2 years ago. The flapper for the air cond. hasn't worked for over 4 years because a pneumatic actuator is blown and I can never remember to buy a replacement. I just plugged the line and hooked a wire to the flapper so I could set it to defrost or the AC vents.:ashamed: Anyhow, I recently had my truck worked on by a local mechanic who fixed multiple things on the truck. When he returned it to me, he asked if the cruise had worked. I told him it had been out for over 2 years. He laughed and said, "Well, it works now after we put the vacuum line back on the actuator." Sometime in my efforts to fix something else, I inadvertently disconnected the vacuum to the cruise control. It sure works good now.:D:thumbsup:

A few months ago, I started to town 18 miles away in my wife's toyota truck. About 15 miles from home it started slowing down.... I had to really mash the gas petal to get it to go. When it went it went nearly wide open. I thought uh oh. I just let it get as fast as I was comfortable with, then turn off the ignition switch. When I got to my daughter's house, I shut it off and popped the hood.... There was a hugh "nest" on top of the motor. A bunch of acorns had secured the throttle linkage. Cleaned it off, everything ok.... Super Senior Moment for me......

time to return my mech. eng diploma/QUOTE]

No-no do not do that.

The Engineers job would call for the Redesign of the vacuum attachment point so that the whole Dash will have to be removed!:thumbsup:

Speaking of the GC, the right rear tire seemed kinda low, when I got around to check it, it was cca 10psi.

Gotta say, I really like BFG ATs. They are so stiff that you can ride them almost empty. Not that you should, but it certainly will keep you on the road.

Took the wheel off, found a screw in it and showed my son how to clean and plug tubeless tire - I am the great educator in practical things:D, if not by example:D

did oil change, put in new plugs, and plug wires, new rotor cap, vacuumed vehicle out, and wiped everything down on the s-10 blazer. got in it, and for first few days. i was TOTALLY amazed. how much faster it was and sounded better. 3rd day, something dropped down into the floor board on driver side. and i just happen to see the driver side mat partially caught on the gas peddle *looks embarrassed* re did the mat. and the s-10 blazer was back to normal.

the mat just barely pressed down the gas pedal. so it seem like i was using less force to get speed / power.

I like this one

Last few weeks I was having issues with the alternator charging in my CJ7 - I thought the alternator is going bad on me and checked connections and such. It would charge on and off - according to voltmeter in the dash.

Well, it was slipping V belt, took 5 minutes to fix it once I found it :)
