Separate Brakes...whats the point..???

I have often wished that I had a similar setup on my BX, but the wheelbase is so short that I doubt the split brakes would be very effective.

My old Economy Power King was about the size of a BX and the turning brakes worked great. I used them when disking. I didn't have weight on the front but the dual rears were filled. It would barly turn in the freshly plowed garden without the brakes.

How exactly does that happen?

For my father in law, it was simply a matter of getting use to a new machine going from a hand operated HST on his old John Deere to the foot controlled HST on his new one. He was mowing a pond levy and apparently panicked when he got too close to the edge. He really didn't like to talk about it.

He was by no means an "inexperienced operator" having driven trucks of all sizes including 18 wheel fuel transport trucks as well as lawn mowers of all types and tractors.

For the really rare occasions I use the split brakes on my kubotas, I don't find shifting both my feet over to that side is all that big a deal.

I'm guessing that's why they haven't switched. For me its only something I use deep in the woods.

How so? Works fine in 2WD or 4WD on my Gear tractor.

You don't use it with the differential locked I hope

It's exactly how some cars with AWD send power to the "wheel that grips" by pulsing ABS on the wheel that is slipping.
