Spoke to Kohler tech today at my annual update, and discussed the overfill situation of the fuel tank, and see if he had heard anything. He said that he hadn't heard of any issue, but said that the overfilling, leading to raw fuel being drawn into the into, should result in poor running or flooding to the point of not being able to run. Suspected that the oil use issue may be due to other causes than the fuel being sucked into the intake.

Would Kohler admit to a problem that might result in a massive recall or warranty repairs.:confused3: My buddy's a pretty honest guy and the shop that did his machine had 8 others with the same problem. It does make sense that sucking raw fuel in would wash the cylinders down. Something is definitely different on the new machines compared to the older ones.

I can guarantee if the engine is sucking raw fuel it will wash the cylinder rings and result in excess cylinder wear and greater oil consumption and shorter engine life. I dont think any engine tech will argue that point. If kholer is having this problem with overfilling, then my opinion is they are responsible for any repairs or replacements due to these problems. The over filling and spill over would be a very easy fix, simply vent the tank so the excess fuel cant be sucked into the engine. Dang, car engines have been using pressurised tanks with fuel return for years.

I imagine that Kohler doesn't build the tank or the fuel return although it may spec it out. This part of the unit would be on Miller, since the design of the fuel tank is specific to that company. There's probably some battle going on between the two companies about it.

Seems to be more of a problem with the Lincoln machines but Miller at least put the "Notice" sticker beside the fuel filler.

Since the fuel tank, vapor purge system would be a lincoln, miller procured item it would be them responsible not Kohler. Only thing Kohler supplies is the vent line from the intake, that miller, lincoln hooks there evap system to.
