Someone here very recently added a rear remote to an L3400 and I think he used that slot. Steve in MT comes to mind. Regardless of who it was, it was one of the slickest remote add-ons I've seen done.
Originally the slot IS for a draft control lever, LD1 is correct. I've never seen an L with draft control, it must be the least popular of all the options they sell.
I don't like the ROPS location for the valve mount either. Mine isn't ideal, you have to reach for the lever too. I looked at putting it on the right side of the seat, but came to the conclusion that there wasn't enough room for the valve I used. After seeing Steve's install, I might try it again sometime.
I only have the single remote, and really don't need any more at this time. I don't have T and T, I just use the remote to control the power angle on my rear blade.
$900 isn't out of the way price-wise, my dealer quoted me over $1k. They would have done the same thing I did, pieced together a system out of aftermarket parts.
