Was browsing the owners manual for my 2008 3320 and noticed that the fuel injectors should be serviced every 2 years, what the heck does that mean? Have never done it and the engine is running fine at 500 hours.
I haven't seen the manual, but my guess is the dealer checks the injectors for the correct spray pattern. Diesel, as you know, can be quite dirty and injectors are very close tolerance devices.
I don't use any additive. Figure the fuel I buy is good to go.
Just called the dealer and that's exactly what they do, check the spray pattern. But only on a as needed basis, such as hard starting or excessive smoke, not on a years or hours schedule. Mine has been fine in those departments so I'll skip it. It starts easily and the only smoke I see is sometimes when lugging the engine going up a steep hill when I should have throttled up or geared down.
On a related subject what's the preferred fuel injector cleaner additive to put in the fuel tank?
