It all depends it you need to work in the ground or ontop of it .
In the ground you need the tractor to respond and that wil show you witch hole on the tractor.
Ontop of the ground it must not respond.
Length:
Stand at the side of the tractor and look at it and the impliment.
Draw an imaginary line by lenthening the lower links and the toplink to the tractor.. Those 2 lines must meet somewhere between the steeringwheel and the front of the hoode. The more forward the better traction you will get.

You all have forgot the back wheel height. I don't see the real wheel as a deck height set. That single wheel is too narrow to carrier weight without rutting. So I set front of deck to mow height, then set the top link to either level if you have discharge relief area or a tad higher than front for no discharge. Thus tension on the toplink, which is connected to a flexlink. Thus rear wheels main use is to keep you from scalping when tractors heads up hill or you back up a bank.
