Shady Rest Progress

It's has been a very exciting past 2 months at our little 5 acre county property after a lot of mundane hard work over the past 3 years. Here's the mess of trees cut down in January at the house sight.

The "driveway'...
Having the main driveway from the road complete was the first significant transition from "property in the woods" to becoming a building sight. Prior to this, we had a dirt path with some gravel at the front 100' or so. The trees & stumps are gone & things are really rolling. We built up the road bed with shale (some hauled in & some dug out from our land when burying the stumps. The work with my friend & his JD 490 trachoe make big things happen fast compared to what the TC33D & I have done over the past couple of years.

The previous driveway pic was from Mar. 15th.
The next major event was having a structure started. This is a pic of the 24/x32 pole barn being framed up from Mar. 20th 2002...

Next we saw the barn completed on Mar. 27th 2002 (except the overhead door which will be installed on April 2nd).

We have had quite a bit of rain over the past weeks. The builder was able to get the barn up, but digging for the basement was delayed some. Finally, on Mar. 28th, the basement area was dug out. On Mar 29th 2002, the footers were poured (as pictured here). If all goies well, the basement wall forms will be installed on Mar. 30th & the walls poured on April 1st (unlessed we are fooled)./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Looking good John! You're only a couple of weeks behind us, though we don't have a barn and probably won't for a few years. Your driveway looks especially nice, how's it holding up to the construction traffic? Keep the pics coming /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That is my daughter's treehouse that I built last summer. What project that turned out to be /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif but it was fun to. I told my wife that I wanted our daughter to have a treehouse like I did when I was a kid-> which was a 5'X5' platform up in a maple tree. This is what we ended up with...
