You sure do have a nice lookin' piece of property there.....any fish in that there water?......I'd love to see some winter scenes if you can post some....good work by the way....and big improvement.....looks so peaceful and invitin'.....what more can I say.....I do like trees.....but too many is not so good when they start to take over and your place begin's to look like a forest.....take care<<<<>>>Ampa<>

Ampa, thank you for the kind words.

As for fish, there are definitely plenty of bluegill and sunfish, as well as redeye, suckers, minnows and typical small creek species. The picture of the creek is at a deep hole that filled behind a beaver dam. In a couple of weeks after all the leaves have fallen from the trees, we can sit quietly on the back porch and watch them work in and around the creek. We may have Kentucky bass or smallmouth, but I haven't fished it much at all (yet :))

I have some winter pics, too :)...

Maybe I'll get more good ones this winter now that I've cleared more territory.

I was thinkin' maybe trout....there once was a spot about 25 miles from where I was livin' back in around around the mid 60's.. "yep" I'm old, but there's one thing about gettin' older...and that is.... the good fishin' times and memories don't fade away..like the fish do ...... if you didn't catch your limit of good pan size speckles and the sometimes the odd brown in at least a couple of hours...you were walkin' on the bank too heavy or makin' too much noise and scarin' them away....

polution and climate change has now killed off any trout in that area...... good fishin' is a thing of the past here in Ontario/Canada....one thing for certain I can see you get your share of that fluffy white stuff.... I'm gettin' myself ready for it(snow) mounting a brand new 48" plough on my 4x4 tractor....thanks for the repy back and the pics....take care....Ampa

I have a lot of good memories growing up fishing with freinds. Farm ponds, lakes, streams. We'd spend all day wading one of the larger creeks where I grew up. My son caught his first fish ever this summer. I plan to get him a good start on his fishing memories. :)

As far as trout, we really don't have a lot of good trout streams in my part of Kentucky. Most are more in the eastern part of the state. I know they stock brook trout in my county, but on the other side of the county...none close to us.

Big snows are actually pretty rare here. That's the main reason I took these pictures. We get a few dustings and a few snows up to 3 or four inches every year, but we can go several years without "big" snows...10-12 inches.

People up North would laugh, but 4-6 inches of snow here can shut the state down for two days. Twelve inches of snow, could be a week. We don't see it often enough to make it worthwile to have tons of snow-removal equipment maintained on standby.

Phase three...enjoy some awesome views of Mother Nature.:)

Its gotta be funny to some old-timers to see somebody like me getting such a kick out of doing a little "tractor" work..."Kid, I've done more real tractor work than that most days before breakfast over the last 40 years".

But I'm still like a kid in a candy store. There's something to be said for getting out on your own land and shaping it the way you want it. Working with your hands and your equipment out in the Great Outdoors. Growing up as a city kid (disclaimer: what we call a "city" in Kentucky doesn't always measure up to many peoples' idea of a "city", but anyway...) I can understand how working the land gets into the blood for generations.

Yep, that's it, Lost! I too am city born and raised, but the land is definitely in me old blood! I have been doing similar work on my place in GA, but mainly with just chain saw and axe, if you can believe that! I have a Deere 2210 CUT, but no front end loader. I did make a small road with by rear blade down to a deep ditch to fill with brush. You're right, it is sure fun to do things on your own land! Good work! And, beautiful photos.

Forgot to mention.... around 1964.... I had two weeks vacation time..... so me and the wife and my son decieded to take a trip down to Nashville to the Grand Ol' Opery(don't know if I spelled it right)....on the way back from Nashville we all stopped off to visit the famous Mammoth Caves..are these caves around your area..I can remember one thing for certain....we were told these caves stayed in and around the same temp all year round....

these caves were really something to see...as I'd only seen them before through the old 3-D viewmasters only thing we had back in those days that were as close the real thing...anyhow I thought I'd mention that so other people can maybe get a chance to see these I think are listed as one of the 7 wonders of the world....I may be wrong but to me they should be if their not...at the time this was the farthest I'd ever drove till I took my parents on a trip down to the Florida Keys where my aunt and uncle owned a mobile trailer....looks like you have the equipment to move snow no matter how much falls this winter....I'm thinkin' we're gonna' get hit real hard this comin' winter...which is the norm for us folks here in Ontario.....

Barrie which is not too far from us and even closer to my son who just turned 45 end of July (how time flies)is an owner/operator of a tractor trailer and hauls gravel for the township.....plenty of work for him in the winter months kinda' slackens off in the summer months.but he knows the business well enough to a cope with it.he bought 13 acres of open flat rocky land and woods consisting of pine trees about 10 years ago...and about 2 years ago built a brand new house close to Barrie had it's first snow fall yesterday......hope you and your family have an enjoyable mild winter......take care....Ampa

Yup. I don't know who gets to officially select such things (probably an advertising agency ;)), but Mammoth Cave has always billed itself as one of the world's Seven Natural Wonders. And it does stay right around 60 degrees inside year-round. Its greatest claim to fame is being the most extensive cave system in the world...about 400 miles of pathways, and still under exploration.
