As I recall, from conversation on another forum he got ticketed for not having brakes, improper use of a slow-moving vehicle sign for a vehicle moving faster than 25 miles an hour, and I think something else but I can't remember what. The article claims he was towing the 53' trailer with a standard issue 1/2 ton. The pics clearly show 8 lug wheels so its either 3/4 or 1 Ton (not that it makes it safer) I'd guess he got tickets for unregistered trailer and overweight load. I also doubt a SMV sign is legal for this purpose.

We sold the mid 1970s 13' Boller a couple years ago after upgrading to a 17' Casita. I'm totally sold on the solid fiberglass shell camper. What about the little Burro, Casita, etc fiberglass 'egg' camp trailers? For towing with a light vehicle (Outback etc) do those tow better than a teardrop trailer, and last longer?
The wooden floor in fiberglass campers is the Achilles's heel. I think Airstream floors are wood, as well.Airstreams are all aluminum. My current client has a 27’ one that he tows with a Colorado. Thing was probably 100k at least. It is nice inside.
The article posted said he made his own air braking system. Not sure how he applied them. And yes, he could get a ticket going over 25 using a SMV sign. My neighbor uses a SMV on one of his small utility trailers instead of registering it. I have told him many times not to go over 25 towing that trailer.
