What did you do to keep from toasting the transmission (or is it a stick)?

I went slow, took frequent breaks to cold down, and am doing a fluid and filter change. Yeah it wasn't ideal but.... some times your already to far committed to reverse coarse when you discover your plans won't work.

Strong legs won't help if he gets that thing rolling fast (like downhill!) and has to stop.

What a significant and important quote. Of my adventures over the years that would have wound up in this thread, it wasn't ignorance or stupidity so much as committed to a path after you have already travelled so far that a reversal would be impossible or impractical. I don't mean something life threatening but we have all been there.

Sometimes you just do things because you have to.
