Similar but not as heavy duty. I have a piece of commercial fish net, the kind where they winch in a ton of fish, cut down from a torn net to fit over my 4x8 trailer. Carabiner clips secure the corners to my tiedowns. Then a couple of ropes across that. Nothing can fly out.

Can anyone suggest a source for a scrap piece of heavy commercial fishnet? I could use a slightly larger one and can't find a source.

My go-to is a tight strap bundling the load together and strapped down - it's worked for me ever since I was that complete idiot that dropped a load in the intersection when I hit the gas in the 460-powered truck I had at the time (plastic slick-as-snot bedliner.
We had recently moved to this town and it was heart-warming how instead of all the other cars at the intersection trying to run me over as I off up the load, three guys jumped out and helped load it up cheerfully.

ning, That happened to me hauling my second pallet load of chips from Home Depot one time. I'd wrongly assumed that the shrink wrap would be sufficient (and it was for the first load) but my luck didn't last! I made a left turn at an intersection and whoops some of the top stack shifted and slid out into the street! I saw it slide off and pulled over to retrieve them; a couple of guys pulled over and helped me re-load -- dodging in and out of the non-stop/non-concerned traffic! Man was I grateful for the unexpected assist!
But I sure learned my lesson -- I never haul anything without strapping it "securely" anymore.

True, but a low load can be wrapped. Just need enough strap to do so. The Home Depot Heros always piss me off leaving the parking lot with nothing holding their purchases.

Run a strap from the safety chain attachment point on the trailer hitch around the side of the pile, over the top and back down to the other safety chain attachment point, like the red line here:

That will pull the pile together, pull it forward and hold it down better than a strap over the top would.

Actually that looks like a good idea to keep it from moving sideways if a strap loosens a little. The load is almost too wide for the trailer.

You have better leverage to prevent sideways movement, because the angle is greater.
