I only gave two examples, but actually matches fairly close to your speeds, even on the type of roads I didn't mention. Driving inside cities or villages is typically 50 km/h, with some exemptions at 30 km/h here and there.So let's see;
120 km/h = 74.56 mph
100 km/h = 62 mph
90 km/h = 55.9 mph
70 km/h = 43.5
And here in the state of NY most toll or controlled highways are 65 mph,
the legal limit on an unposted road is 55 mph,
most highways out of the cities, towns and villages are 55 mph,
most of our rural roads will vary from 35, 40 or 45 mph.
65 mph = 104 km/h
55 mph = 88.5 km/h
45 mph = 72.4 km/h
35 mph = 56.3 km/h
and then a lot of towns are 30 mph
30 mph = 48.3 km/h
I made a short run yesterday from my place to my daughters,
about 60 miles. The section of I87 (the Northway) that I ran was posted at 65 mph,
I set my cruise for 70 mph and traveled mainly in the far right lane and was passed by over a 100 vehicles some at 20 mph faster then I was going, I believe I passed about 6 vehicles in that time.
I'm afraid people see speed limit as speed suggestions unfortunately. This seems to be pretty much a worldwide ocurrence. On top of that, add the constant faffing around with the phone while driving and it's accidents non stop everyday.
I've never been a speeding driver. I don't like speeding, it's not in my mindset to be speeding all the time. Not saying I haven't gone faster that the speed limit, I did but usually no more 10 or 15 km/h max. So I do feel you on the people passing you like you're stopped.
I do practice defensive driving and that alone has saved me from so many problems with reckless drivers.
