But not all 1/2 tons are the same. My ‘13 F150 with HDPP has a heavier frame, heavier suspension, heavier shocks, LT tires and brakes that are almost as big as a 3/4. On top of that it has a CCC of 2592 lbs (more than some older 3/4’s) It tows my 8000 scale weight trailer just as well as a 3/4 and has more ccc than some current diesel 3/4’s

One thing the German's and a few other Euro countries have really done right, is to have different speed limits based on the weight of the vehicle
This has to be a freaking nightmare!!
Considering how some people drive now when the passing lane is only going 10 mph faster than the slow lane, I can just imagine if trucks were restricted to 50, while cars were still allowed to drive 70 so some feel they can do 90.

That used to be the way it was. I remember there were truck speed limit and car speed limit signs on the interstate. Also night speed limit for trucks was posted. The speed limit on I 20 years ago was 70, trucks 60 and night 55. Probably caused too many accidents and was changed to 70 for everyone. Now it's posted 75 in Texas.

Hogwash.

Your 2013 F-150 has the exact same frame as any other 2013 F-150. Ford did not build any "special" frames for extra-special F-150's. Yours got different brakes, wheels/tires and suspension bolted on. That's it.

My "not special" 2012 F-250 beats your CCC by 1000 pounds. And mine is as plain jane an F-250 as you could get in '12.

Doesn't mean you can't tow with it. But no need for the BS.

I would say fuel economy, but since your half ton is a gasser and your one ton most probably a diesel, that wont fly...
I don't remember ever worrying about mileage, I don't ever check mileage. The 1 ton is almost always hooked to our food vending trailer so instead of disconnecting it we would use the 1/2 ton truck

No BS, lack of info on your part.

You need to do some additional research. The frame is a heavier gauge.

LD frame at .87 (6500 GVWR and there abouts)
HD frame at .10 (7000 GVWR and there abouts)
HP/HDPP frame at .11 (7800 GVWR and there abouts)

That's for sure.

I would much rather tow with a late '70s GM 1/2-ton than a '14-up Ram 1500 (don't remember when they came out with the rear coil springs).

Heck, GM even had a Heavy Half, not that I remember what those consisted of.
Reminds me of the first pickup I bought here, a '76 GMC Bonus Cab.

Didn't know what that all meant until later, all I knew was that instead of having a rear seat like the typical 3+3, the Bonus Cab did not. Which was fine with me.

Later I found out that while it was a 3/4-ton, all the suspension stuff in the rear was 1-ton parts. That was even finer with me.

Did you miss a zero? LD frame?

Speaking of heavy-halfs, I sure wish that rumored F200 was real with an ICE engine.

Not at all! I spent many years there, and back and forth, and can tell you without reservation... their way is better.

Passing lane laws are strictly enforced, and even more strictly followed. Germans tend to be rule-followers, good or bad. The ticket cost for driving in left lane, or passing on the right, was $700 way back in 1996... renze may know the current cost better than me.
