Done that before myself. Strap wrapped around the bundle not just over it and something to protect the bottom of the window. A second strap wrapped the same way at the front of the box would be useful unless he has one in the back seat.

The only thing I see really wrong is he doesn't have a flag on the back of it but that regulation could vary by location for how far it has to stick out to need a flag.

Glad a few chimed in before me. I bungee tied to my steering wheel because I couldn't any other good tie downs up front. But I didn't have any sharp turns on the way home so no problem.
