Makes me wonder what that kind of advertising actually does for sales. I think, it often just impresses the business owner the most. Other people really couldn't care less.
Yeah it makes me wonder too. I know bad advertising annoys me enough to want to avoid some businesses, but when it comes to sales in general there is truth to what P.T. Barnum said, “There's no such thing as bad publicity.” For a lot of people, decisions are made by instinct or familiarity, so they think hamburger and automatically think of the same burger joint, not "Hmm, what kind of burger do I want today?" Same for coffee, cheap tools, etc etc. A lot of sales/marketing is not designed to inform you about their product, but just to make sure their brand is the first thing that pops into your mind.
I don't know what that moose is selling but maybe having a stupid looking moose on your car might just be enough to stick in the minds of locals enough to compete with the mass advertising of a national chain.
***EDIT*** Ok, thanks TheFarmerInAdell. It is a pizza place, so their goal is to pop into people's head just as fast as Dominos or Greco, without having the advertising budget of those bigger guys.
