I like the red shorts or T-shirt they are using for flagging. I used a pair of red shorts for flagging on my canoe for years. A few times when I forgot my trunks I would use them to swim in, then tie them back on the canoe when it went back in the truck.

red shop rags work ok in a pinch too. always got them inthe tool box!

We needed a flag once and couldn't find anything so I used an orange hunting vest and put it back behind the seat after we unloaded.

about 25 years ago I got pulled over while hauling a 32' ft ladder, (16ft with 8ft hanging out the bed of my truck,) The LEO told me if I had something red I could tie onto it for a flag he would only give me a warning,
I looked at the red shirt i was wearing and off it came and quickly tied it onto the end of the ladder,
He said quick thinking and smiled,
