Can't tell for sure but it looks like the spring hangers are likely attached to the angle iron. Who knows if they are also attached to the compromised main frame members.

One thing that reduces how bad that thing is, is that it is short for being a two axle.

saw one yesterday but didn't have a camera. 1/2 ton chevy towing a tandem axle boat trailer with an walk around 22ish ft outboard. no big deal. well he only had 3 wheels on the trailer as opposed to the normal 4

Putting the springs in top would do the opposite of what they were trying to do. It would make the deck higher. Don't get me wrong they should not notch the frame to try and get the deck lower.

I wouldve made the deck higher..

On my way to town Friday I saw a guy taking the left wheel off this trailer, he already had the right off. He was in a TDI Jetta. I hope he was not pulling it with that. It was still there on my way home. I wonder why he was taking the tires off:laughing: It has a heaping load of mulch on it.
