That was an attempt at a joke.... maybe next time ?

If small vehicles were rated higher in the USA it might erode big truck sales a bit, so there is a financial consideration for the industry in these #'s.

OTOH, most of ROW doesn't live where you can drive 80mph at Max Tow Load, for 3+ days straight.

You mean like Australia? You surely haven't seen Scandinavians on the Autobahn on the way to Spain.

It doesn't explain why many vehicles have zero towing rating in the US, like that Prius. Our 2011 Ford Transit Connect had an official tow rating of zero. It was manufactured in Turkey and is rated at up to 1,000 KG in Europe. The new one is rated 2,000 lbs here and 1,200kg elsewhere.

I blame lawyers....
