No need for chains, " we're only going a few miles":D Years ago I saw a dozer that sled off a float on a right turn. Those grosser bars don't give much sideways traction.

On the thread of not needing chains?

We got 'em in Oregon too. This is 97 North just above Klamath Falls. Flat bed with 4 tie down straps.

Are you referring to tow vehicle/trailer brakes as a system or trailer brakes only?

I worked as a porter between RV Sales lots my first summer out of high school. The experienced porters told me to quickly push and immediately release the brake controller if a trailer started getting squirrely on me. I've never (yet) needed to try it but have that advice in the back of my mind almost 40 years later.

Now I'm not sure if that was / is good advice or not.
i heard the same thing. Tried it and the swaying stopped immediately.

View attachment 435513 My picture won't upload. It was a big mess of wire hanging out of the side of a pole.

Yes, this definitely works. I had a little Chevy Blazer (rated for about 6500 lbs) pulling a 7500 lb rated trailer full of firewood. The wood was greener than I had originally thought, and the back end was too heavy, causing a tail wagging scenario. I used the brake controller brakes a few times to straighten it out, until I got a chance to pull over and re-distribute the weight. After that it pulled just fine, although I did drive slower all the way back home.

This was a trailer I had custom built so I could tow it with the Blazer. I added brakes to both axles. I can stop faster pulling the loaded trailer than I can with no trailer attached.
