It's happened a few times around here also. From.all my buddies that drive truck, it requires a driver with zero ability to pay attention to what he's doing for it to happen.

About 15 yrs ago, we had a guy hauling an excavator that clipped 3 (yes three) overpasses cause the boom wasn't fully lowered. Ya'd think he'd have stopped after the first one

Imagine the cost of that insurance claim :/

I have a friend who drove truck for many years, he used to wear a ball cap with a whole bunch of stick pins in it. One day I seen him with all these holes poked in his forehead and asked him what happened? He said "I hit a low train overpass with the top of my truck and it stopped kinda fast" He doesn't wear that hat anymore.

A major bridge in Toronto was closed for a while a few years ago after a raised dump truck hit it. I understand alcohol was involved.

Seen the title of this thread and this one immediately came to mind:

Isn't that weight-distributing hitch supposed to allow more tongue weight without reducing control?

That donkey looks happy to me. Probably the first time he's been off his feet in years.

The problem here was excessive "tail" weight, not excessive tongue weight.
Although, I suppose that it could be argued that the problem here was insufficient donkey weight...

Similar 'accident' today! Quoting myself:

A long semi's dump bed raised, struck a pedestrian bridge across the freeway, and dropped it across all the lanes. Just before commute hours. On the only freeway (at the time) into San Francisco from the south.
This happened today near the same spot - at southern edge of San Francisco half way to the airport on US route 101, a principal west coast interstate route. Southbound was closed for six hours.

Article with lots more pictures.

Summary - witness said truck was speeding down an urban boulevard, locked brakes, smashed two cars badly (with injuries), swerved for at least four more blocks, flipped as it crossed over 101. Witness who pulled trucker out said "He was really out of it. Told me "Bad brakes"." :liar:
