On the horse in the front seat thing, that had to be a scary first minute or two.

Some good ol' stories from my friends grandmas coffee table:

His aunt went to a farm to buy potatoes. Halfway driving back to town, suddenly a German shepherd was breathing in her neck and she allmost crashed because of the scare. It apparently jumped in the back seat when she was out to get the sack of potatoes in. The animal was good so she drove it back, hoping not to meet the farmer and have to explain what she was doing with the dog.

His father went flat on his side with the moped, driving to work early in the morning dusk. When he came around after the crash, he found feathers, or donze. Spent ten minutes looking for the goose he might have hit, before it hit him that the donze was padding from his torn winter coat :D

Another man from town hit a deer, and decided to take it home. Deer wasnt dead, and when it regained its consciousness it started kicking around like mad. It scared the **** out of the man, so he emergency stopped, jumped out of his car and slammed the door shut. Deer kicked holes in the door padding and rear seats before he understood that he'd better let it out.

Know what the wind speed was at the time?

Doesn't help with the wind speed but maybe the storm that caused it...

From what I remember it was on I-90 somewhere in South Dakota, about 5 years ago.

^^^ Back in the 70's it was common for ranchers to move stock in the back of pickup trucks... the trucks did have a rail side for moving horses... it was an everyday sight.

I probably have not seen it done in 30 years...

The only trailers they had were big stock trailers... not something easy to take off road or turn around in tight corners.

We didn't get our first stock trailer till 1990. Before that it was a 3/4 ton long bed truck with stock racks. Cattle had gates tied over the top to stop jumping. Sheep and hogs top was left open.

After a 2800+ lb bull was taken to market very slowly. He only fit at a 45* angle in the bed. And the truck leaned with his weight shifts. My grandfather decided that that was enough and got our first trailer. Still have it too.
