No pic cuz it happened too fast but a local lawn care guy doing leaf pickup drove past me yesterday with three 5-gal plastic gas cans sitting on an extended-out front bumper like you might have for a winch. Bungee cords over two of them. No diesel equipment on the trailer as far as I could see. All would be fine until it wasn't!

I was taught to stand clear and put a blanket over the cable...

If ever pulling with a chain, I was taught by a logging guy to wrap under the object with the chain rather than over. If it breaks the force will send the chain down and not up. Also told to lay a send chain over the first near the object being pulled. the weight absorbs or redirects the energy if something breaks.

Good point. So does bicycle tube for lighter duty uses such as the chain on my trailer spare tire.

Edit: many are a snug fit so warm the tube in hot water, slide over chain and you have a snug fit that will not slide on the chain.
