Where we live on the flat ground with few trees, maybe two semis a year get blown over on the main road from high winds. That's probably typical for anyone on the flat ground of the Midwest where the wind can really whistle through in the winter and spring.

One of the worst places in Southern Ontario is the Skyway.

The Effects of Wind on the Burlington Skyway

The bridge is somewhat enclosed, at least compared to that Chesapeake bridge. Because of the truck volume, they'll only re-route trucks off the Skyway when it gets really bad. I've been up there with a light vehicle, does get "breezy" at times... wouldn't want to be hauling an empty box trailer.

And reached down from a high truck bed to pick up two at a time with each hand, right?

I know a guy who can fling bales two at a time from the ground to the top of a stack on the hay wagon, dude is like 6ft wide lol, he also can drink a 12 pack in 10 mins, he works down at the feed mill down the road when he's not flinging bales. All the farmers around here love him because him on the ground and a stacker and the wagon is full in no time at all.

I usually wore shorts and never wore gloves doing hay. We picked bales from the ground onto the truck, then tossed into the barn, and stacked.
You drove the truck, right? ;)

Where I grew up, nobody drove the truck. We put it in dual low and let it go. If you needed to steer around something you kicked the front tires. I always wore gloves and eventually got smart and started wearing long sleeve shirts because I ended up with deep scratches on my forearms all summer.

Our hay fields are hilly. Remember once when mom was driving, full load on the truck, and the brakes went out.

No, sir! I won't drive that truck, sir! One rope isn't enough to contain the blast!

If I was forced into driving that truck, I'd at least want several sandbags between that thing and me
