My favorite tiedown is a 4 x 8 piece of commercial fishing net, the stuff that is used to winch a ton or so of fish aboard.
For a random load in the 4 x 8 trailer - sometimes first a tarp, then this fishnet secured to the trailer at all four corners with carabiners.
Then HF ratchet straps if the objects in the trailer could shift around and chafe.
I think the fishnet alone is strong enough to restrain anything I carry but the cheap carabiners would likely distort first. I should get some carabiners that are climbing-grade.
The similar stretchable nets seem useless. We had a guest arrive up at our mining camp without the sleeping bags he was carrying on the roof of his Landcruiser using those.
