My favorite tiedown is a 4 x 8 piece of commercial fishing net, the stuff that is used to winch a ton or so of fish aboard.

For a random load in the 4 x 8 trailer - sometimes first a tarp, then this fishnet secured to the trailer at all four corners with carabiners.

Then HF ratchet straps if the objects in the trailer could shift around and chafe.

I think the fishnet alone is strong enough to restrain anything I carry but the cheap carabiners would likely distort first. I should get some carabiners that are climbing-grade.

The similar stretchable nets seem useless. We had a guest arrive up at our mining camp without the sleeping bags he was carrying on the roof of his Landcruiser using those.

Cali, good idea on repurposing heavy fish netting and using carabiners. I will now be on the lookout for old netting! I hate the spider elastic stretchy thingy that my BIL touts. I spend way too much time cursing while trying to untangle the hooks from the bungie material.

As I sat at the stoplight, I kept thinking this was a great way to break a couple of expensive windows to get a used, cheap table home.

I use one all the time, with zero problems. In fact, it's the best thing I've found for most of my hauling.

It's all in how. The tool is just fine. Some people could lose a load out of a closed and locked trailer. Doesn't reflect badly on the trailer.

Uhhh, those are bullet holes in that car door.
He might have bigger fish to fry than four broken windows. :D

EDIT--Oops...they couldbe drops on the window I was just told. Bullet holes is just so much more cosmopolitan.

But how do they get out of the car with the doors strapped shut? Through the windows I guess. Yep, not much of a table either. Takes all kinds.

And that is another good reason to own a pickup for your daily driver. Unexpected emergency table transportation. Got to admit that it does wonders for the paint on top of the car. Could be that the sunroof was leaking and that was the first thing they could find.
