Yep... happens every winter.

Sideshows are simply individuals creatively expressing themselves
I have no problem with them doing it, but not when they stop traffic, do it in opposing lane with spectators along the road, and riding on the cab, and almost running into me.....

Just posting because I want to bait the tie down police...

full disclosure, I was sitting still when I took the picture and I was only going a half mile on the hwy and I was following the wife with the loader, if they didn't fall off in the field they definitely weren't falling off on the road..

Seems i remember, maybe in the late 50s or 60s, what would now be called public service announcements, about playing chicken in motor vehicles. They showed them running into each other and off cliffs. Apparently, neither is a good idea.

Ok, so im driving home and come to a stop, in front of me is a full sized pickup with a full load of damp sand in the back, nicely squatted down, but looked drivable to me. I pull out after the pickup keeping a little back from the pickup. As he picks up speed, some of the sand starts to blow out, i slow down further so as not to get sand blasted, he notices the sand blowing out and slows down. Now the sand must be drying out because at his lower speed, sand is still blowing out, which causes me to slow further so as not to get sand blasted, and so on and so forth till i think we are both going slow enough to warrant putting on my flashers. I can't pass as there is too much traffic coming the other way. Now there is a string of us behind this pickup with a largish gap, say around 5 car lengths, between me and the pickup. Guy behind me guesses, rightly so, that he can pass me to get to the gap, which he does no problem. Then his follow space behind the pickup, begins to widen. Etc. Etc. by the time the pickup turns off, im the forth in line, i really had to laugh about the whole affair.

I too would have laughed about the other cars pulling into my following space, but not so much about the guy in front not having had the decency to have covered his load, or almost as good, not having pulled over for a minute [or 5], to relieve the traffic obstruction he had become, and let the line of cars he had created clear away.

Careful not too judge too quickly. The road up to our place is 17 miles of narrow winding road with zero turnoffs. Sometimes it just isn't possible.

Now covering your load, that's another issue... ;)

I wondered why there was opportunity for three cars to pass you, but not opportunity for anybody to pass the loaded truck...

Seems to me if the guy behind you could pass you, you could pass the pick up.
Also the pick up could have been passed when the others passed you.

Everyone was trying to keep their vehicles from being sandblasted by the idiots uncovered load of sand.
