Even with a couple of straps over the top of one of those shrink wrap stacks they will still shift. Seen it happen several times.

So what is the best way to strap thoses stacks? Jon

I have always had good luck making an "X" over the top (corner to corner) and lashing them down tight with ratchet straps.

I used to have to haul concrete bags that way periodically. A second pallet on top, then strap them down really locks them in place

That would be a heavy load if they were concrete sacks instead of mulch :D

From what I have seen the tall stack of mulch just shifts sideways in the middle. Thus defeating the straps over the top. The few times we have hauled them we stand a 2x4 up flat against each side of the mulch stack and run a couple of smaller straps horizontally around the stack. A little below waist high and head high. The heavier duty straps still are ran over the top.

One of my peeves is people who can't be bothered to run trailer lights on units which are so big that you can't see the lights on their tow vehicle. I followed a contractor's trailer today through early morning traffic, trying to guess what he was doing. When we both stopped at the same place for gas I asked him if he knew his lights were out.
"Yeah", he said, They worked last week but..." and made it pretty plain that he didn't give a rat's behind about how unsafe he was.
