How do you know those are 3500 lb axles? I'm not saying you are wrong, just wondering how you can tell from that picture. Is it the 5-bolt rims?
5 bolt rims are almost always on 3500# axles.
I’d say you’re right about the trailer size but it’s a little skid steer. I doubt it’s exceeding the trailer capacity. The ranger is definitely overloaded.
Look at the space between the top of the trailer tires and the fender lip, there is too much weight on the trailer axles and it's sitting on the bumpstops.

You’ve got that right.
My Ranger is rated for up to a 7K trailer when properly equipped.
Somehow I don’t think that means ”hook onto the bumper hitch and go.”

Yeah, it looks like an older 6xx or 7xx series Bobcat. They had operating weights in the upper 3000 to upper 4000# range. Not necessarily over the capacity of a 7,000# trailer (which would have about 5000# capacity). But that Ranger isn't happy.

Short of running safety chains up to the motor mounts, what could you even attach them too, that wouldn't be a total waste of time if they were needed.

I don't see any tie down chains on the front and I'm sure that Bobcat weighs more than that 7K trailer can handle.

After enlarging the photo it appears there are chains from middle of bucket area attached to what looks like a winch.

I was pushing things yesterday getting some auction stuff home... have a 8'x18' trailer with two 6000lb 8 lug axles with 12 ply tires with a pintle hitch, the ol '97 F350 powerstroke is a proven entity and wasn't the worry... the first load was a 12' wide by ~11- long disc, put it on the trailer sideways and shortened the hitch as much as possible, stuck about 2' off the passenger side... that load went fine. Next load was a Ford 9000 tractor with dual 15.5-38 tires in the back, 3 of which were filled, one inner one flat. So that's about a 14k pound tractor that's 9.5' wide... It was chained down proper, two chains connected as 4 chains, 4 binders at reasonable angles, tied down best in the rear as 200hp isn't a rocket ship at 20k pounds or so... Kept it at about 45mph for the drive, handled fine except one trailer tire that was contacting a former stake pocket in the deck when the inner tractor tire went flat while driving pushing the outer rail down into the tire messing with the outside row of lugs on the tire... was just a 30 mile drive so I just aired the tire back up, added some to the airbags on the truck (fixed the trailer angle some helping the problem) and went for it, worked out just fine.

Being farm use there's some more forgiveness as long as the load doesn't look hokey, but still not a great idea :). Being an unknown tractor that is 48 years old with a top speed of around 12mph we decided not to drive it the 30+ miles...

I drove a 12 ton Zoom Boom about thirty miles home. Ran on propane at the time, so someone had to be going for cylinder refills which isn't easy in the country. It always amazes me, how quick such trips actually are. You think it would take forever. Kind of fun, actually.

I wasn't really against driving, but wasn't my tractor :). The thing holds like 16 gallons of hydraulic fluid and was likely 12 gallons low... when we got home added a gallon and the power shift and 3 point started working again... that big bastage has a torsion bar between the inner pivot of the lower 3 point arms and a giant 3" by .21" cross section O ring on either side of the tube it rides in through the bottom of the rear end that is leaking on both sides...

Yeah, not nice to find out about problems while halfway home. My machine had a crab function and it would slowly start to do that. Also, was running hot. Had the heater going full blast in the middle of summer. Just good fun.
