I have been here trying to understand the mindset of loading it this way....

Only shear stupidity seems to be the answer

There’s plenty of reasons why they loaded it backwards. But they could have rolled it 4 more feet forward and probably been fine. The real act of genius is buying that size bumper pull trailer.

Don't frigg up peoples "assumptions".

鏑oading it this way I meant why they did not get the engine weight over the axles of the trailer.
I didn稚 mean just because they backed it on, actually it may have been harder to get a proper balance with the engine on the front of the trailer rather than the rear.
Driven on the trailer it may have been very tongue heavy and not able to overcome it

It may not be as much of a loading issue is it was why did the hitch come loose and why were the safety chains not connected. Should of flipped the tow vehicle also.

North side of Ann Arbor, Michigan last Friday. Came off M-14 freeway to see a lot of police activity. Dunno if this guy swerved too hard in the roundabout, or if the raised center section (possibly with a bunch of extra snow piled on it) was enough to tip this setup over.

I've always thought these 3-place hotshot car hauler trailers really do place the load (and C.O.G.) way up high. I suppose the risk is.... this. not a good day for the pickup driver. They were using a large crane to right the whole shebang a couple hours later.

And yes, we had an 11" snowfall on Nov 11th in Ann Arbor. Too soon, nature, too soon.

I can’t tell from my phone, but is that a dually pickup? Hope so on a 3 car trailer.

When he knew it was unrecoverable, he must have flipped up one of those little RED safety type covers, and hit the switch to trigger the explosive bolts on the hitch and safety chains.

That's not even a wedge trailer, it's a light weight 5 or 6 car.

One of the auctions I use to deliver to had a regular company that used a F250 with a 4car wedge. Not sure how he wasnt pulled off the road by DOT. Always easy to spot, it was that unusual bright yellow color Ford had.

Yeah it was a dually. Hard to see in my first pic, but yeah.

From the second picture it looks like there are two levels, so this could carry five cars two on the bottom and three on the top, and he had three all loaded on the top level. That would seem to be pretty top heavy for a pickup truck to pull if all three were loaded on top and the lower tracks were empty. 5 x 3500 lb cars is about +/-18,000 plus the triple axle trailer, so it is a big load but within the range for a newer 350/450 class pickup. From the first picture you can see the truck was a dualie.

You would have gotten a better view than the pictures show I would guess. Was it actually a double decker? I have never actually seen a 5 car trailer for a pickup, I am just looking at the picture and there seems to be a lower deck.

EDIT**** - Oops, I didn't read far enough. A bunch of others already commented on this.
