Those are big loads. Here's a Really Big Load. British Columbia, 1970's. You don't go on their haul roads. Rather, stay on the more primitive parallel local road, instead.

The old Hayes and Pacifics were beasts. Google can teach you all about them. Many had 12 cyl Cummins 1710s or Detroit 1271s for power. One thing people often don’t realize is as equipment is scaled up, speeds are also scaled up.

Those trucks would be doing 60+ mph when they got to the collector roads. It’s a bad feeling when one of those crests a hill coming toward you.

Someone has to back up and it’s not them.

Here's a video of the Pacific type at speed. One of the comments says the bunkers are 14 ft wide, "at least 120 tons load on there". And it looks a little tippy.

In looking for that second photo above I discovered the hankstruckpictures website, the Wikipedia of heavy trucking photos, has disappeared. Comments on other sites said photos uploaded free there were appearing so often on Facebook etc, with copyright asserted by the reposter, that Hank was buried under fraudulent copyright takedown notices and said to h*** with it, took everything offline. A major historic resource is lost. Also gone is the paul keenleyside site named in my first photo.

Someone has spent the last few days submitting copyright claims on almost all of my cosplay/art. I am lost, and don'''t understand what is going on. : legaladvice

Am I seeing things here??? It looks like his lead drive axle is off the ground.

It's probably got 3 tandems and that's an air drop axle.

4570 Man is absolutely correct, the haul truck is a four axle heavy haul tractor; it likely has a 20k front axle, 20-25k non-steerable lift axle, and 46k driving tandem for a GVWR of ~80,000 pounds. Something like this:
218 Peterbilt Heavy Haul Day Cab Tractor 2/2/46 | PeterbiltSteve.com or 2;) Peterbilt 389 Heavy Haul Day Cab, Cummins X15, 565 HP-2:confused: LBS Torque-18 spd Manual-4.1 ratio-269" WB For Sale | Tampa, FL | 193649 | MyLittleSalesman.com
A screenshot is included below since the links are unlikely to work forever.

The most common lift axles are steerable single tire and I believe 13.5k. However, for heavy haul/dump trucks/etc. 20k steerable lift axles (same tire size as front axle) and 20k to 25k non-steerable lift axles running dual tires are common. Hendrickson even offers a 25k dual tire steerable lift axle - see "Toughlift LKT" in the linked PDF (page 9). https://www.hendrickson-intl.com/CMSPages/GetFile.aspx?guid=b13f11f7-0de1-4dcc-8c50-f860539257cc

In the PNW trucks run to 105,500 with a single lift axle without any extra permits. This is typically log trucks, dump trucks, and any 4-axle semi trailer. Concrete trucks typically have two or three lift axles plus a tag axle versus dump trucks that split the weight with a trailer (I'm unsure exactly what GVWR the concrete trucks have.). See the below pictures.

And you wanted to be sure you had your CB radio tuned to the right channel, so you would know when one of the behemoths was started down the road.

VHF radio not CB, they use company frequencies but that’s correct, you should not be on their roads without a radio.

Once the first one sees you they generally continue to report you location (along with speculation on your mother’s morals and misplaced anatomy you may possess) but much better to have 2 way communication.

I think I understand the mothers morals part, but I am pretty sure I do not understand how someone misplaces their anatomy....

Wow. What I'd like to know/see is, how the F%^& do they get those top logs up there? What kind of gargantuan wheel loader or the like can lift and place things so high? Anyone have pics of that aspect? Crazy.

Probably a large excavator-type unit with a grapple (called a 'shovel') or else maybe a crane. The shovel is how they load smaller logs at logging sites normally. Look up 'logging shovel'.
