NO, I see things from my perspective and seeing the idiocy of that video seems quite apparent for me, you on the other hand seem to see something positive, that I do not.

You reacted to my post, so here we are......

You guys, as I previously stated, multiple comments on the facebook thread mentioned that they got the move done, left the azz end hanging down, and started moving in right away. Yes, perhaps better than sleeping outside (but honestly, given the chances of mold, critters, and pollution inside that hovel, perhaps NOT).

That trailer was a total piece of garbage. They scraped up the public roadway and blew at least one driveshaft (looks like it whacked one exhaust stack crooked, too), smoked a lot of tires. Took several guys an entire day or more to accomplish. I would definitely call that whole effort a complete waste of time, but maybe that's just me. All I know is if you come by my house hauling like that, I'm calling the police to come chat with you. Be proud of the effort if you want, but at the end of the day, it's totally moronic.

If the transport of the trailer was as traumatic to the driveshaft as to destroy it, what else did it destroy on that truck?
Engine? Trans? Rear end? Suspension?

It was a POS in the first place, it surely did not improve the life of that POS

That truck will be out pulling the next friends trailer in no time. I have blown driveshafts before and not once was the truck not out hauling something the very next day!
Problem here is most live in thier world where we have money to buy fancy trucks, and if something we want done pushes the limits we can just buy, rent or pay someone to bring something way more capable. I however have been poor and had to make due so I can understand why someone would pull something like that with less.
As for the truck being junk? That痴 a question of perspective, it runs and drives heck it even pulls his house and will most likely get him to work on Monday providing the local you pull it has a drive shaft. Being a Cummins I would take it cross country on Monday and haul my new tractor home with it not even worried about today痴 breakdown. It痴 a truck not a show piece but a truck being used to get things done.
What痴 better yet is he payed less for it then we have paid for ours and even with a repair here or there will have less invested then we do in our fancy clean, never tested money pits that we are afraid to push limits with.

So who did they hurt? Hauling a trailer down a quiet country road with no traffic? Get a beer out and enjoy the show from your porch, no need for the commie fuzz to stop the show, that’s anti American!

Some people who don't have much do what they gotta do. Would you prefer to pay taxes for them to live in section 8 housing? I am going to say they would rather find a way to provide for themselves.

He was probably hauling it to his girl friends house so he could impress her how he was a home owner. Who could fault him?

Eh, you make a fair point. On my road there is a lot of traffic, and pedestrians. On an empty country road, I suppose I wouldn't care so much either.

But the entire point of this very long thread is trailering safety. People don't necessarily get a free pass just because no one got hurt this time...

Safety can be looked at from several perspectives.
They most likely knew the road, never traveled at a speed to cause any concern and even had a couple guide vehicles that doubled as help when he got stuck.
Yes times change and I wouldn’t tow that load down a busy road at any rate of speed over 15 mph. Without spotters and permits. But I can remember full well doing similar out in the boonies years ago. My neighbor has recently come to ask if they can tow one we hauled in here many years ago when we first got this property. Big difference now is we will pull it to the end of the property with the crawler and then hook it to an other friends truck that is purpose built to haul them. That same friend was here when 3 of those ratty looking on the outside trailers came in. We used an old dump and 4 pick ups to get them here, fixed them up a little and lived in them till we were able to build new homes.
Now We sit atop the hill in very nice and expensive houses, with fancy trucks and equipment most would never believe but we are still those country boys that scratched and crawled our way out of nothing and built a life. I just can’t imagine what would have became of us if the cops stopped us from starting our life with what we had.

At the instant that the driveshaft let go, you will see that the right rear tire moves to the front of the wheel opening. I would assume that something with the leaf spring let go to allow the axle to move. When I posted this video, I just thought it was bizarre how the whole moving process went. I can not have a opinion on all the WHYs I have when I watch it as I have no facts to make a judgement on. Maybe the land owner was charging them $500 a day until they move it? Maybe the EX was using the trailer and wouldn't move out so they took the trailer? Yes, I have many questions but that is life.....until I can put myself in their shoes, and know the WHOLE story, I'm satified in thinking it was just .....bizarre. :drink:
