Sharpen the tiller tines?

You know, I remember seeing something about tillers and orchards on one of the foreign tiller sites or their catalog. It's been a few years--or longer-- but I think it was Howard Tillers. Should be a Google search that would work as well. The tractor used might have been a Same Frutteto so maybe on their site. Maybe worth a search.
There has to be pleanty of prior experience keepimg weeds under control in dry orchard conditions.

Gun will take care of the gophers. People would love to shoot them if you let them. Unless that is illegal too out in California?

Legal beyond 300 ft from an occupied building. (If closer to a neighbor who we know would be frightened - we would just use an air rifle. )

But stalking and shooting gophers has been tried by many, with no useful results. Also massive trapping, poison grain, flooding, and auto exhaust in the burrows. No success. I think the present unexpected increase in coyotes has reduced the gophers, but my neighbor said he shot seven coyotes this year so the gophers will probably come right back.

Ever hear of Luther Burbank, an early plant geneticist? He abandoned his experimental farm out here and moved to town after he was overwhelmed by gophers. ..... He donated that first farm to the cemetery district.


This little guy popped up again and again near our feet right in front of my tractor stall while I was standing there conversing with a guest. I wish I had had a pistol with birdshot in place of the camera I continually carry. But it really wouldn't be worth the trouble to carry all the time. I see a clear shot like this only once every few years.
