I was deep in the woods to grab a leftover ash tree. Bucked it up and felt confident the 500 would pull the trailer full of wood up the hill. There is only 2 ways out of the bottom valley. Both hills are just as steep, just one is shorter than the other. I figured on about 3 loads using the trailer to get the tree out of there.

Pic shows the hill from the drivers seat, locked down all 3 wheels and gave her a shot.........Nope. Unloaded a few rounds and tried again..........Nope. Unloaded some more.........Nope. Finally with only 3 rounds on the trailer and 4 in the 500's bed I made it up the other longer hill but not without a struggle. Made it back to the house and ditched the trailer and made several trips with just loading the rounds in the bed. Made it up the original hill no problem this way. The 500 has found its way in what I use it for, but some days I need more grunt. I should add, I feel most of my problem was traction issues. May have fared better with ATV tires.

If you don't have ATV tires on it, you should keep it on pavement. Worksite (WS)tires are not for working in the dirt, not even dry dirt. Also, an RTV 900 would have been a better choice for pulling and hauling.

Nice looking property, GL. I'm envious of anyone that has dry ground and no snow (opposed to mud) right now, but still..

Traction IS the name of the game, it's very seldom I don't have enough power to get the job done, but getting it to the ground is another story!

Yesshh. Tough crowd here.
I wonder if you had taken weight off the back of the trailer, increasing tongue weight, and put that wood in the box or the front of the trailer, increasing traction, if you could of pulled the same amount of wood?

I know aren't they :) I tried added tongue weight and wood in the back of the buggy. Trailer has a long tongue so its hard to get weight to it.

I could have used my tractor, in fact I hauled a load out weeks back until the hill got to muddy and things got squirrely. Just didn't feel like getting out the tractor and hooking up the box. I'm really not complaining.......just thought I'd share a couple pics of my afternoon.

Was the problem a lack of traction, or a lack or grunt?

Both. With more grunt I probably could of got past some of the slippage. I can get up these hills anytime, just not with the weight.
