Hi guys--I don't post here nearly as much as I did several years ago, but still remember much of the advice many of you passed along--for which I'm grateful.
This is year #7 for my 2360 snowblower. It's gotten its share of use over the years and the gravel drive doesn't help much. Too often, we get dumped on before the drive has had time to freeze so running the blower is sometimes a necessity and I have picked up a lot of rocks. Still, that thing blows the snow like nobody's business.
I gott tell ya though, today was a killer. I've always had a hard time getting my dealer to order me the OEM shear bolts but after reading here, thought I could drop down a grade or two and use a regular bolt, which I've done. Most of the time, it's been the auger bolts that go and other'n it being a pain sometimes to dig 'em out, I can deal with them.
Rarely have I broken the fan bolt; maybe once or twice in all this time. Though the dealer suggested I use a straight Grade 5, I think based on what I read here, I went with Grade 2. We got I don't know how much snow last night--many of the drifts were over three feet and DENSE. I went through 4 (FOUR!) of the fan Grade 2 bolts today. Finally, I put a Grade 5 in and was good the rest of the day. I might be switching to 5s from now on...
Have a good winter, all you MFers!
