I don't know how to bring up one of my posts but if anyone is interested in making there own shear pin/bolt I posted a thread about that in the Parts repair section on Oct 27/10 under Making your own snowblower shear pin/bolt. Its simple and easy to make your own and you can't beat the $$$ of making your own.Larry

I finally got to use my 2360 Snowblower last weekend (man can that thing fling snow-- rocks even better(oops)) on our recently gravelled driveway and suceeded to pick up a couple of good sized rocks which invariably snapped the auger shear bolts. Mine did not come with spares so to get me through the rest of my clearing I took a couple of grade 5 bolts of the appropriate size and length and ground some grooves in the right spots.

On Monday I went to my dealer and while it took him a few minutes to find them in his computer he found a listing for "silver 2 groove and yellow 1 groove shear bolts", he said they come in bags of 10 and that they had never stocked them, so i ordered a bag of each and they arrived the next morning.

From past experience with my Father-in-laws Kubota, if you don't use the right strength shear bolts you risk damaging something more expensive, ie. the cross auger gearbox. Cost comparison: couple of bags of shear bolts $20-30, new gearbox $650. You decide.

Your local TSC store sells bolts by the pound in grades 2, 5 & 8. They work fine in my Meteor ........ I converted the metric hole by drilling it out to the next standard size which makes them ...available and much cheaper.

I went to my MF dealer to ask about the fan shear bolts since I sheared my spare a few days ago. They had the gold MF shear bolt with the correct P/N in stock so picked up two. It came with the lock washer and nut included in the packaging.

I believe the Canadian manufacturer is called "RAD" -- don't know what that stands for, if anything, but I'd say they make pretty good stuff.:)

Bervac became RAD and are in the Drummandville area of quebec
Yes they make good blowers.

Thanks, PILOON. Seems like I see signs for Drummondville on the way to Montreal from here....

My blower has held up very well, just about to start its fourth season; as of yesterday, we now have just enough of the white stuff to cover the ground up here. Sure is beginning to look like winter!
