I have not used Power Service or any additive other than Sta-bil. If I were to use this Rotella or Power Service, would I still have to use a fuel stabilizer?

No. Rotella, Power Service and Sta-bil all perform similar functions. However, I've always connected Sta-bil with gasoline and not diesel fuel. The Sta-bil web site says,
"STA-BIL® contains proprietary additives designed to reduce oxidation and metal corrosion of gasoline and diesel fuels."
Be sure to read the directions on the Sta-bil bottle before pouring it into diesel fuel. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Like Mike said no you won't have to use it. The power service prevents most contamination of the fuel.

That is true if all you are looking for is freezepoint but the kerosene does not help increase lubrication or add in stability of the fuel. If you're using your fuel in a months time or so then no problem but if you have diesel fuel sitting in a tank for 3 or 4 months in the summer with the humidity and such I wouldnt' want to use that fuel without something in it. It's a well known fact that diesel fuel will grow fungus and other things.

I use a fungicide in my bulk tank. I'm not in the shop so if you want, I can go and look up the brand. It smells horrible. I guess it works, though. My fuel supplier told me that if the fuel in the polycarbonate bowl on the water seperator turns from red (off road) to brown, I have an algae problem.
We use to use kerosene and even a little regular gasoline in the tanks of big trucks in the winter to keep fuel from gelling. Cummins and old 2 stroke detroits returned enough fuel from the pump bypass to keep the tanks warm. Caterpillar didn't. The problem with Kerosene or Gasoline is that it is "dry", hence the lapped surfaces in the injection pump are then really prone to scoring.

You're exactly right Daryl. That's why I hesitate to use kerosene to keep diesel from gelling. I know after we started using power service we went from getting around a 100k out of an injector pump to 150k avg. from one. We also rarely had to replace injectors either. I'm sold on it and for as cheap as it is it's pretty good insurance.
