I built mine from what I had lying around. First I measured the window so that the guard would actually rest on the frame and not on the glass. Next I built a frame out of angle iron. Now weld some mesh on the inside of the flat part of the angle. What you have now looks like a picture frame with the mesh being where the picture glass would be. On the top edge I welded some short lengths of tube to match up with the hinges on my tractor window. To install it I just loop some wire through the tube and around the back of the hinges, not pretty but easy for one man to do. Doing it this way lets the frame rest against the window frame and keeps the actual mesh away from the glass. Paint it flat black so there is no glare from the sun on it.

It doesn't have any windows yet but here's a photo of mine. It was a right of way mower for a power company, saw lots of action and saved a lot of headaches or worse and has the scars to prove it.

My dealer suggested I build a expanded metal guard starting just below the lower window back to the edge of the fender. This would be almost horizontal and held on with pins. the idea was to only run it when you needed it and not hamper the rear window opening.
Guess I better get mine made before I have to spend $500- on glass !
