Shipping a handgun from WA to TX

Bear in mind that crimes involving the USPS are usually more severely punished than if you used a common carrier like FedEx or UPS. If I was going to ship a firearm (or anything else) illegally, I would use UPS or FedEx; never USPS.

Last I knew, they had to put a sticker on the package saying it was a firearm, and that it was priority shipment. Effectively a "steal me" sticker

UPS, etc. are prohibited from doing that:

ATF Online - Firearms - Frequently Asked Questions - Unlicensed Persons

Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.

USPS has no labeling requirements I can find:
DMM 601 Mailability

and BATFE says:

The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms.

That link indicates "Adult Signature Required". Not a declaration of a firearm. Guess things have changed. The person writing though, indicated that the "Adult Signature Required" is a "steal Me" though.
