Shipping ideas?

Hey folks:

Well, I'm tryin' to snag a good used machine off Ebay...I'll know Sunday morning! The quote from this dealer to ship it to me is almost $1K. Anybody got any ideas along cheaper shipping? I don't have a truck dock at my house. I might be able to rent a roll-back for a few hours or something to unload it at home if it was on an 18-wheeler.

Any other ideas for getting to me? It's too far to drive and pick it up...about 650 miles one way!

I had my Kubota M8950 with 15' flexwing mower delivered from Florida to Maryland for $1200 ($1 mile). I had it delivered to the local John Deere dealer (which has a truck dock). I then drove the tractor home from the dealer. Call around, maybe you can find a company that is looking for a load from where the tractor is to your area.

Too far away?? I bought a tractor on Ebay a month ago, and drove 550 miles through a snowstorm (Cleveland) to pick it up! Just a long weekend. I decided I would want a trailer anyway to haul it locally so I bought a trailer. If you figure you will want a trailer I would definately consider that option. Jason

Check Yesterdays Tractors site. I beieve there is a special forum there for hauling.

Check where Steve said. Sometimes, one of the guys there will need a back haul and will do it cheap if you are not in a rush.

Hey Folks:

The hauling list on www.ytmag.com looks pretty cool...should be useful. I also stumbled across www.uship.com, which is a site where you can list something you need hauled and/or list that you are available to haul something...looks pretty cool too, don't know how well it works...probably the better the more the patient you are, eh?

I was trying to snag a 1998 Cub Cadet 7200 w/FEL off of Ebay...didn't hit the winning bid, but that's ok, there's plenty more.
