Shooting back stop?

A late friend in LA had a 450 yard range on his property. He sold a certain major company access rights across his property to access the well they drilled just behind his shooting range. They came in, built a road and monitored the well weekly on-site. He got a phone call asking for a meeting. Seems he had been shooting when the technician arrived. Then they came out and inspected his range. They wanted him to move his range, or at least its angle, but his old shooting house wouldn't stand the move. So they changed the angle and brought him a nice new shooting house! It came complete with shelves and full lenght windows that flipped up and some serious locks. His backstop was still the rolling hill across his land, but to have heat and a/c in your shooting house makes it nice. I think it was a 14x30 building.

The ISRA range I was a member of had 20 foot tall berms and steel baffles (full of holes) on most of the ranges. The 300yd line had target pits with target stands that hinged up/down.

even with a good backstop shooting handguns I don't want to do it.
I hate to say this, but this whole topic may be a moot point. I had to meet with a guy yesterday to remove a double wide from the property, and after having more time to look at where I'd put a backstop, took a walk back to the end of the property line.

Long story short, I just don't like the layout of where a road comes into play, added that although there are no homes directly behind the home, but after driving that road that I didn't notice before, it does go into town with more homes back a mile or so.

End of the day, even if it were an ultra large backstop, I'm not feeling like it would be worth while to shoot in that general direction. Don't get me wrong, not worried that I couldn't hit the back stop, just would feel uncomfortable if I or anyone else was shooing in that direction.

When the one guy was talking about how much dirt would have to be removed and I saw where I could put a backstop and I had the dirt, got excited.

Kind of bummed, but there are more important things in life.

This.....but many Texas counties also have a minimum 10 acre rule
(backstop or not) regarding gun use.
Good point. I make that easily. ;)
