1) If you pick something up, put it back where it was... not where it goes.

Yep.

It's a combination of lack of time and lack of space. Some of my newer stuff simply doesn't have a place yet because I'm running out of space to organize stuff.

I'm planning an expansion sometime in the very near future. A two story workspace with storage under and insulted, heated workspace over.

A few things you can never have too much of in a shop...

Space
Clamps
Straps
Extension Cords
Places to hang stuff

The best way I have found to find a missing tool is to buy another one and then when I decide where would be a good place to keep it, I usually find the one I was missing.

Never walk into a man's shop and say anything if he is working with a power tool or taking a measurement....etc. How's that ?

Agreed.
I always stop at the door before entering another man's shop and check that it's safe for me and for him for me to enter.

Never...I mean never...tell anyone (family included) that they can store "a few things" in the corner of your shop for "a little while". Your prized mancave can easily become a storage unit and valuable space will steadily be lost to "a couple small items" from those that mean well but never seem to get around to moving these items out!

Sounds trivial, but what may seem like a harmless act of kindness can get out of hand.

I know a guy who let his daughter store yard sale stuff in a room in his garage. She now has the whole thing taken over. Sounds like he should have a yard sale.
