Shortened ROPS - WHY???

As an architect friend of mine tells me, "Garage space is cheap, kitchens and bathrooms are expensive."

so true.. stuff with plumbing expensive.. stuff that is pretty much rough finish is much cheaper.

found that out with my barn too.. I went with a metal building.. base metal building was 24x24.. I stretched that to 53 x 30 for just a couple thousand over the base price of the small barn.

When building our addition, which included a "garage under", I made sure it would fit, both length and height, the F-350 crew-cab longbed, with ladder racks, I wanted, but didn't own yet. This required excavating the floor level down about a foot to get an 8' door, since the main floor (the garage ceiling) had to match the existing house. The walls are all poured foundation.
And, now that I have the truck, I sure am glad we went to that trouble, and, as Chris says, relatively minor expense.

As an aside, I also specified that this garage would have a single 18' door, and no posts in the middle. One of the better decisions I made on that project, even though it required a few steel beams to make it all work.
