My early and late corn is so much different in height I thought would share with ya. The early corn is shortest and is Early Sunglow Hybrid. Small but tasty, good for eating now. About 6 to 8 inches in length and 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. The later corn, which am sure everyone has tried or grown, is Kandy Korn....mmmmm;) Great for freezing. There is as much as 4 foot difference in height!

I have neighbors in the same boat, hundreds of acres of corn still need to be planted around me. Saw some progress on Sat, then it rained yesterday.

Dubba, I know what you mean, this rain is a pain in the butt!
I've been working on a small two stall barn for her horse for a couple of months now and the roof isn't on yet. It seems we've lost a lot of weekend time with all the rain.
We did however get our corn planted on the 18th and it was up when I got home friday night. We have an area off in the side field that was drier than normal this earlier this spring and I put some corn in, then the rains came. Now the grass around it is over 6 feet tall! I hogged around the corn patch (thru the mud) and we weeded it yesterday, with muck boots on, the plants are about 8" tall. Hopefully they'll take off now that the sun can get in there.
The progress everyones gardens are making elsewhere are making me envious.

Sorry to hear of you fellows demise with the corn planting. I planted mine on the 10th of April. So got a little of a head start. I'll think of ya while I am eating mine.:D

On April 10th, it was perfect weather for planting. Only thing, it was about 2 or 3 weeks early at best. I couldn't wait. I fired up the tractor, tilled a half acre, then hooked up the corn planter. With-in a week, the rains came. If I didn't plant when I did, it would have been around June 1st before I could have planted. A few neighbors thought I was loosing my mind. (HA! Fooled them didn't I? I've already lost it! HAHAHAHAHA!)

It's now about 6' tall, tassled, with ears filling out nicely. I've planted Silver Queen and/or Peaches and Cream for the last few years. (Silver Queen this year) We freeze about 5 bushels of ear corn. Looks like I get the last laugh on the neighbors. They're all giving up on corn for the year. Sometimes you just have to go with that "gut feeling".

In all likelyhood, I'll be able to feed the neighbors too. That's ALMOST as much fun as eating it!

Planted 8 rows (on right) Apr 13, balance Apr 26, no rain, water from well.
Silver Queen, had rain storm Sunday, wind blew some stalks over a little.
See how much it grew from June 9 till June 26.
